Award was awarded to Ms. Bethscheider for outstanding performance and lasting
contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the
ideals of SAVE. Bethscheider received her
award at the 12th Annual SAVE Summit in Raleigh, NC.
The SAVE Summit concluded National Youth Violence Prevention Week across the country (March 31 - April 5, 2008).
Ms. Bethscheider has a drive for preventing violence that has influenced the
overall change of the Montbello community. She has encouraged and challenged the
Montbello High School SAVE chapter through
conflict management activities. She believes in the importance of youth stepping
forward to help with crime prevention in their school and community. One of her
student's commented, "Every day Ms. Bethscheider makes us believe that we can
make a difference and we do!" Kris has aided other local schools as they implement
SAVE chapters and is active in coordinating
multiple service projects that include the beautification of the community and
the needs of others. When asked if she thinks that she can stop "all the violence"
Kris always responds by saying, "I may not be able to stop all of it… but if I do
nothing, which side am I on - which side are YOU on?" Ms. Bethscheider, we commend
you for "Turning off the Violence and Tuning in to SAVE"!
