2010 NATIONAL SAVE ADVISOR OF THE YEAR

Beth Scheirer

Ms. Beth Scheirer, Advisor of the Laney High School SAVE Chapter, was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for her work and efforts in preventing school violence and promoting youth safety. The 2009-2010 National SAVE Advisor of the Year Award was awarded to Ms. Scheirer for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE.

Ms. Scheirer has been a dedicated advisor to her SAVE chapter. She motivates, supports, and leads her students by example. This past school year Laney High School participated in the Allstate Foundation Teen Safe Driving grant program and Ms. Scheirer led the SAVE students in safe driving activities such as seat belt surveys, the creation of public service announcements and campaigns focusing on the dangers of using cell phones while driving.

“Ms. Scheirer is well deserving of the SAVE Advisor of the Year Award. She is one of the most helpful individuals at Laney High School going above and beyond her position to make her school and the SAVE chapter the best it can be.” stated Jonai Lloyd, Laney SAVE member and National SAVE Youth Advisory Board member. “Ms. Scheirer has encouraged the students to conduct many youth safety projects, providing guidance and assistance but still allowing us to run our chapter. Under her guidance our SAVE chapter just recently conducted a mock crash to teach students about safe driving. She is always willing to lend a helping hand in order to see others succeed. Many students go to Ms. Scheirer for advice and she always encourages students to make good decisions.”

“Ms. Scheirer embodies the ideals of SAVE and is a model for SAVE chapters everywhere.” stated Dr. Pamela L. Riley, Executive Director of SAVE. “SAVE’s vision is for all students to be able to attend schools that are safe and secure, free of fear, and conducive to learning.” As more students join SAVE chapters all across the country, we are moving closer to making our vision for safer schools a reality.”
