STUDENTS AGAINST VIOLENCE EVERYWHERE ~
CHAPTER SPOTLIGHT
EASTERN GREENE ELEMENTARY 2006 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The Eastern Greene Elementary SAVE Chapter has made a positive impact in the environment of their school this year.
The group's positive message, monthly activities with the entire student body, and interactive programs have been
beneficial to all groups involved. It has brought an awareness of the issues to students and parents and has given
students an opportunity to commit to making the school a safe place for all students to grow. The chapter has hosted
SAVE rallies, presented at local schools, conducted multiple fundraisers, and will be presenting at the Governor's
Conference representing the Indiana Homeland Security Initiative.

THOMAS JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL 2006 MIDDLE SCHOOL CHAPTER OF THE YEAR
The Thomas Jefferson Middle School SAVE Chapter has made significant strides in preventing bullying this
year. The members enthusiastically brainstormed ideas to promote intolerance of bullying and implemented
an awareness campaign including posters, bookmarks and video presentations. Their efforts helped thes
school to win the Triple S School award from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for being a
Super Safe School. They are the only school in their district to win this award. The chapter writes and performs
skits on violence prevention for the weekly school TV show. They have participated in numerous service projects and
have participated in multiple awareness events throughout the county this school year.

ST. MARTINVILLE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL MARCH 2006 CHAPTER OF THE MONTH
The SAVE Chapter at
St. Martinville Senior High School in Louisiana
has had a busy year! The SAVE
chapter took on a service project
of fixing up the school parking lot. The parking lot was in need
of a makeover, so they painted multiple signs including One Way signs,
Handicapped signs, Tow Zone signs, Arrows, and Slow. Students
are also taking on awareness efforts to encourage the students
to slow down and not to be aggressive when driving.
Over the holidays the chapter hosted a SAVE Christmas party.
Students were rewarded for collecting toys for needy kids and
hygene items for the needy elderly. The St. Martinsville Chapter
also receintly received an ESA SAVE Star Grant. The chapter
will utilize the funds to attend a statewide violence prevention
conference to gain additional knowledge and share information
with participants about SAVE.
In addition, educational items will be purchased to assist them
in their violence prevention efforts. The chapter will also
utilize funds for awareness efforts and to participate in a
field trip to learn about criminal activities and their
ramifications.
