2008 NATIONAL SAVE CHAPTERS OF THE YEAR!


KONNOAK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Winston Salem, NC

The SAVE Chapter at Konnoak Elementary from Winston-Salem, was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for their work and efforts in preventing school violence. The 2007-2008 National SAVE Chapter of the Year Award was awarded to Konnoak for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE. Konnoak's award was announced at the 12th Annual SAVE Summit. The SAVE Summit was the culminating event of National Youth Violence Prevention Week across the country (March 31 - April 5, 2008).

The Konnoak Chapter received the SAVE Chapter of the Year Award for promoting positive messages and character education through their SAVE Step Team. SAVE students serve as peer mediators for the school. The SAVE Chapter Step Team travels to other locations to spread a positive message through dance and promote positive character traits. Their service projects have included food drives and volunteering at the homeless shelter as well as campus cleanup. Thanks for stomping out the violence Konnoak SAVE Step Team!


MOORE INTERMEDIATE
Florence, SC

The SAVE Chapter from Moore Intermediate from Florence, SC was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for their work and efforts in preventing school violence. The 2007-2008 National SAVE Chapter of the Year Award was awarded to Moore Intermediate for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE. Moore's award was announced at the 12th Annual SAVE Summit. The SAVE Summit was the culminating event of National Youth Violence Prevention Week across the country (March 31 - April 5, 2008).

The Moore Intermediate School Eagles SAVE Club received the SAVE Chapter of the Year Award for their dedication to the fight against violence. Throughout this year the Eagles SAVE Club has faced challenges and overcome them due to members' positive attitudes. This group educates their peers and community on the history, goals and mission of SAVE through assemblies, service projects and a monthly newsletter. SAVE students challenge and engage the entire student body with violence prevention projects throughout the year. The school PTA also gives the chapter much support. Keep flying high Moore Eagles, congratulations!


CHANDLER HIGH SCHOOL
Chandler, OK

The SAVE Chapter at Chandler High School was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for their work and efforts in preventing school violence. The 2007-2008 National SAVE Chapter of the Year Award was awarded to Chandler's Positive Peers for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE. Chandler's award was announced at the 12th Annual SAVE Summit in Raleigh, NC. The SAVE Summit was the culminating event of National Youth Violence Prevention Week across the country (March 31 - April 5, 2008).

The Chandler SAVE Chapter was recognized for their unending vigil to prevent violence. They have preformed numerous Domestic Violence presentations for their school and community and performed many school violence prevention skits. The chapter hosted a booth at the community fall festival where they provided information and materials to students and parents. The chapter continually conducts ongoing awareness activities and outreach to local schools and their community spreading the SAVE message. The Chandler SAVE Chapter this year was sponsored in part by a grant from the Allstate Foundation.
