CHEVROLET SUPPORTS THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SAVE

Chevrolet sponsored SAVE through its community initiative, Chevy R.O.C.K.: Reaching Out to Communities and Kids. Chevy R.O.C.K. is Chevrolet's response to the nation's top priority of providing young people with safe schools and communities to ensure they develop the skills needed to grow to their full potential.

With Chevrolet's support, SAVE is educating and conducting outreach to teachers and students on how to start chapters; developing and enhancing its educational materials; providing technical assistance to new and existing chapters; sponsoring the Youth Advisory Board's activities and helping to create an awareness for SAVE nationwide.

CHEVROLET AND SAVE ARE ROCKIN' IN 2003-2004

National SAVE and Chevy R.O.C.K. conducted another successful year! With Chevrolet’s national sponsorship of SAVE through its community initiative, Chevy R.O.C.K. (Reaching Out to Communities and Kids), SAVE focused on four venues in the fall of 2003. The venues included:

¨ St. Louis, MO on October 9, 2003

¨ Philadelphia, PA on October 23, 2003

¨ Nashville, TN on November 13, 2003

¨ San Francisco, CA on November 20, 2003

The SAVE team will held one-day implementation workshops to increase awareness of SAVE and helped establish new chapters in these areas. The National SAVE staff also traveled to Detroit in September for a one-day Roundtable for established chapters in this area.

Thank you, Chevrolet, for your continued support and partnership in helping us grow nationwide.

Chevrolet Invites SAVE to Select NASCAR Events to Increase SAVE Awareness

What do Chevrolet, NASCAR drivers, and Looney Tunes have in common? A fun way to support an important cause and as part of Chevrolet's community service initiative Chevy R.O.C.K., they did just that in Charlotte, NC and Richond, VA.

As part of Chevrolet's continued commitment to youth and the community, Chevrolet held a pre-race at the Monte Carlo 400. NASCAR drivers and their Looney Tune teammates raced a golf cart around the track five times as the pre-race. Jeff Green and Daffy Duck won the race. On behalf of the winners, Chevrolet donated $1,000 to a local Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) chapter in Richmond, Virginia.

Chevy R.O.C.K. Helps to Ignite 375 New SAVE Chapters & Increase Membership Since August 2000

  • 375 new Chapters were started nationwide
  • 50 percent increase in student membership, bringing total membership to over 90,000

Between August and December 2001, Chevrolet sponsored SAVE workshops in Detroit, Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego, and Tampa. More than 300 local educators, students and school resource officers learned about SAVE and how to organize SAVE chapters in their schools. We thank all of the Chevrolet dealers and employees who hosted and attended our workshops at these events. Due to Chevrolet's support, SAVE has been able to reach out to thousands of adults and students nationwide with the SAVE message and start new chapters.

65 New Chapters Received $80,000 in Start-up Funds from GMAC

Thanks to a generous donation from General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) through our Chevrolet sponsor, SAVE directed funds from the $80,000 donation to the 65 new chapters in the five designated Chevy R.O.C.K. cities - Detroit, Orlando, San Antonio, San Diego, and Tampa.
