Hecht’s Department Stores Supports Back to School Safety
Efforts: SAVECHAPTERS TO CONDUCT AWARENESS
DAY AT LOCAL HECHT’S STORES ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2005
On Saturday, September
17, SAVE chapters in North Carolina will have the opportunity to bring awareness to
their chapter efforts in Hecht’s stores across North Carolina. If your
chapter is interested in assisting with the event which will take place from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, please contact National SAVE. Chapters will host a
display table and present brief school safety skits throughout the
afternoon. Chapters who participate will

Your Chance to Illustrate Your Concerns with School Violence: CRAYOLA ERASE IT MOSAIC PROJECT
The Crayola Erase It! Fund is asking kids
to draw a picture of a problem in the world they would like to erase. Each
entry has the chance to be displayed in the Erase It! Mosaic to be unveiled in New York City
in August. At the unveiling, Crayola will reveal the problem that kids chose as
most important, and the Erase It! Fund donation will be presented to a
charitable organization that works toward erasing that problem. Drawings should
be submitted by July 15, 2005. For more information about the project, please

National SAVE Youth Advisory Board: APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JUNE 30, 2005!
The National Association of SAVE is seeking outstanding
youth leaders to serve on the 05-06 National SAVE Youth Advisory Board. This youth board consists of high school SAVE
members from across the country that assist in the planning of the yearly focus
activities for SAVE, planning and hosting the National SAVE Summit, present
workshops across the country and serve as the national youth voice for
SAVE. For more

August 11, OJJDP VIDEO CONFERENCE ON YOUTH GANGS, ONLINE
On August 11, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. ET, the
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) will air the
90-minute satellite videoconference "Communities Respond to Youth Gangs in
America." The
videoconference, which may be viewed online, will feature community programs
and strategies that effectively address the youth gang problem. It will explore
strategies to leverage existing resources, provide examples of partnerships
across disciplines, highlight innovative strategies, and share information on

October 7, SAVE: YOUTH VOICES… GROWN-UP CHOICES WORKSHOP
RALEIGH, NC
Join the National
Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere
(SAVE) for a one day interactive training session on how to effectively
implement the SAVE program in your school or community. The workshop topics include violence
prevention strategies essential to the SAVE program. Whether you are at an elementary school, middle school, high school,
college or community youth agency, this workshop will provide you with
valuable tools to make a difference in your school and community. Workshop

NATIONAL SAVE DAY
The National Association of SAVE is
proud to announce National SAVE Day will be October 19, 2005. SAVE
members across the country are planning activities to bring awareness to the
issue of school violence and how they are searching for real solutions to this

2005 Safe Schools Week will occur October 17th through the 21st. Activities
conducted during America’s
Safe Schools Week will draw attention to the continuing problem of school
violence and educate everyone about how schools can be made safer and more
secure. America’s
Safe Schools Week offers an opportunity to address this very important issue
and to take steps to ensure that schools offer students and teachers an

Monthly Focus – INTERNET SAFETY
As the Internet has become more and
more a part of our lives, young people have become more vulnerable to Internet
crime, such as sexual approaches from child predators, exposure to pornography,
and cyberbullying. In recognition of this growing concern, June 2005, has been
declared as National Internet Safety Month.
