Deputy Susan Johnson received the National Students Against
Violence Everywhere (S.A.V.E.)

generosity of GMAC as part of the Chevy R.O.C.K. (Reaching
Out to Communities and Kids) initiative, this year's national
award not only included a plaque, but also a Monetary Award
of $500.00 to be used to promote the mission and goals of S.A.V.E.
Susan was nominated for this award by her S.A.V.E.
students and co-advisor Joan Manning. Deputy Johnson competed
for this award against other advisors from the over 900 S.A.V.E.
chapters nationwide.

is considered exemplerary. She has served an important role
in letting her school know how S.A.V.E.
can help to better the community. She helped establish the
chapter at D.H. Conley and has been an advisor for four years.
She has been in law-enforcement for nine years. She is respected
by her students not only for the work she does with S.A.V.E.,
but also because they can confide in her about personal concerns.
She has dedicated numerous hours, including weekends, to help
the chapter initiate and run nonviolence programs and activities.
She was involved in writing, publishing, and presenting a
Critical Incident Plan to the staff at the high school.
Susan also served as a volunteer advisor to the National
Youth Advisory Board of the National Association of S.A.V.E.
putting in countless volunteer hours with this group.
