STUDENTS AGAINST VIOLENCE EVERYWHERE ~ ADVISOR SPOTLIGHT

Mr. Mike Moser, Advisor of the Kernodle Middle SAVE Chapter, was recognized by the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) for his work and efforts in preventing school violence. The 2008-2009 National SAVE Advisor of the Year Award was awarded to Mr. Moser for outstanding performance and lasting contributions to the school, community, and students and for exemplifying the ideals of SAVE. Mr. Moser’s award was presented on May 21, 2009 at Kernodle Middle School by SAVE Youth Advisory Board Member Cassady Tetsworth. Mike Moser has been the dedicated advisor to his SAVE chapter since its inception in 2004. He motivates, supports, and leads his students by example. He has overseen the involvement of the PTA and School Resource Officers in the SAVE program and has organized rockathons, collection drives and violence prevention skits and role playing activities to help spread awareness in the school and community. Many of Mr. Moser’s SAVE students have received the Presidential Award of Volunteerism over the past 4 years.

Riley, Executive Director of SAVE. “SAVE’s vision is for all students to be able to attend schools that are safe and secure, free of fear, and conducive to learning.” As more students join SAVE chapters all across the country, we are moving closer to making our vision for safer schools a reality.”

During his tenure as SAVE Advisor of the Year, Mr. Moser will serve on the National Association of SAVE Board of Directors. His hands on work and knowledge with SAVE will be a valuable asset for the Board of Directors. Mr. Moser was nominated for this prestigious award by his students and other advisors at Kernodle Middle School in Greensboro, NC. He competed against advisors from across the country.
